Strong start to 2024
RTL Deutschland celebrates the strongest first quarter in four years, with RTL+ achieving its best first quarter ever.

During the first three months of 2024, RTL Deutschland achieved on average a 28.1 per cent audience share in the target group of 14- to 59-year-olds, marking a 0.4 percentage point growth compared to the same period last year (Q1/2023: 27.7 per cent). With that, RTL Deutschland recorded its strongest first quarter since 2020. The lead over main competitor ProSiebenSat.1 was also at a record high level of 8.0 percentage points.

Flagship channel RTL achieved an outstanding 10.9 per cent audience share (14 to 59 target group) during the first quarter of 2024 – a 0.4-percentage-point increase compared to the previous year (Q1/2023: 10.5 per cent). RTL Up and Vox Up set new all-time records among 14- to 59-year-olds in the first quarter, while news channel NTV also extended its audience share by 0.1 per cent. Vox continued to secure second place among private broadcasters in Germany during the first three months of 2024.

The first quarter of the year was also a success for streaming service RTL+: Video starts increased by 29.1 per cent year-on-year to an average of 102 million. The number of hours spent on RTL Deutschland’s all-inclusive entertainment app, which became available on television screens in a bundled format in March 2024, increased by an outstanding 45.1 per cent to more than 47,800 hours.

RTL Deutschland also recorded a strong quarter in the audio segment: Podcast launches on RTL+ increased by 32.4 per cent compared to the first quarter of 2023. Based on the number of views, March 2024 was also the strongest month for audiobooks and the music offering of RTL+.

On 10 April 2024, RTL Deutschland’s morning programmes set new records. In the 14 to 59 age group, Punkt 8 achieved a 14.7 per cent audience share, while Punkt 6 recorded a 17.5 per cent audience share in the same target group.
