For the first time in its 18-year history, the entire production of Let’s Dance was moved to an outside location for one special night. On 10 May, the jury desk of Joachim Llambi, Motsi Mabuse and Jorge González was moved from the studios in Cologne Ossendorf to the Musical Dome in Cologne next to the Rhine, where the quarter final of the popular dance show was broadcast.

With the backdrop of the glamorous musical hit Moulin Rouge! Das Musical, the five remaining couples of the 17th season of the show danced to selected songs from the highly successful musical, which premiered in Cologne in November 2022. Hosted by Victoria Swarovski and Daniel Hartwich, the show was followed by 3.18 million viewers over the age of 3. With an audience share of 18.3 per cent in the 14-59 and 20.5 per cent in the 14-49 age group, Friday’s show was the most popular programme of the day on flagship channel RTL.

Markus Küttner, Head of Entertainment at RTL Deutschland, said before the broadcast of the show: “We are looking forward to a great quarter final, which will take place outside the TV studio for the first time in the history of Let's Dance. What an exciting trip into another world, where viewers can experience the best of these two legendary brands in the spectacular setting of Moulin Rouge! Das Musical. I am sure that dance and musical theatre fans alike will be thrilled.”

The quarter finalists of Let’s Dance included content creator and author Ann-Kathrin Bendixen with Valentin Lusin, sports journalist and NFL presenter Jana Wosnitza with Vadim Garbuzov, coach Detlef Soost with Ekaterina Leonova, singer Gabriel Kelly with Malika Dzumaev and singer Lulu with Massimo Sinató.
