After a successful 2023 edition, RTL Group business units returned to the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) from 12-15 September 2024. This year’s key topics included AI, ad-tech, cloud technology and OTT (over the top) & streaming.
Similar to last year, technical service provider BCE, streaming tech company Bedrock and ad-tech company Yospace took part in the event, showcasing their latest innovations in broadcasting, streaming and ad-tech.
Showcasing media-as-a-service
To kick off the event, BCE, together with RTL Group’s news association Enex, organised a customer event to celebrate past successful projects and discuss future opportunities. As part of the event, RTL Hungary’s Head of Broadcast IT & Playout explained how BCE implemented Playit, the company’s cloud playout system, for RTL Hungary’s channels.
Throughout the four-day conference, BCE’s sales and technical teams had the opportunity to present the company’s media-as-a-service offering and hold demo sessions for prospective clients. Representatives from BCE included Stefan Weidner, Sales Director DACH, Noëlle Prat, Media-as-a-Service Sales and Business Development Manager, Stéphanie Schaeffer, Sales Account Officer, Pascal Casel, Sales Account Officer, and Laurent Seve, Marketing and Communications Manager.
In total, BCE colleagues gave seven interviews to interested press representatives about media-as-a-service. Frédéric Fievez, Chief Sales Officer at BCE, presented the company’s media-as-a-service platform to online publication SVG Europe, highlighting the key modules showcased during IBC 2024.
Discussing media in a podcast series
Streaming tech provider Bedrock once again created a unique setup for IBC, featuring a special line-up of guests. Together with OTTRED, a media, streaming and digital entertainment community, Bedrock welcomed several guests to their booth to record a series of podcast conversation.
Jonas Engwall, CEO of Bedrock, and Jonathan Thomson, CEO of Everyone TV, discussed the future of media collaborations. Other speakers and topics included sports broadcasting with Kjetil Horneland from Ease Live, the future of in-car entertainment, and the evolution of premium content delivery with Michelle Munson, CEO of Eluvio.
Ad-tech, AI & sustainability
Ad-tech company Yospace was also present at IBC, conducting over 100 meeting across four days. Moreover, company representatives took part in several spin-off events with partners and influential industry figures. The company's report on advertising trends during Euro 2024 was a big hit, earning lots of trade media coverage and promoting Yospace's key messages on delivering addressable advertising at scale.
