Compliance at RTL Group

Our compliance objectives are aligned with RTL Group’s values and business objectives.

Compliance with laws, internal regulations and contractual obligations is a precondition for operating in a legally “safe” business environment, built on mutually trusting relationships with all stakeholders.

Our compliance objectives are aligned with RTL Group’s values and business objectives: there is an ethics case in compliance since the Group is perceived on the adherence to its values, which requires compliance at all levels. There is also a clear business case since non-compliance can have an impact on RTL Group's reputation, impede its ability to achieve strategic objectives and therewith economic success. Finally, there is a legal case since demonstrating the existence of a sound compliance programme can prevent management and employees from legal liability.

Code of Conduct

Responsible and ethical behaviour toward employees, business partners, society and the environment is an integral part of RTL Group’s values. The Code of Conduct outlines binding minimum standards for responsible behaviour and serves as a common guideline for the decisions and actions on a daily basis.

The Code of Conduct is available in nine languages, in magazine format for online reading.

Speak up procedures

At RTL Group, you will always find an open door if you need advice, report concerns or want to provide suggestions for improving compliance procedures.

Many concerns about workplace conduct can be resolved by raising them constructively with the persons directly involved or by seeking assistance from local contact persons. Other issues, such as illegal business practices, might be better addressed with somebody outside your local environment.

Your local HR department, your local ethics and compliance responsible or, if applicable, your employee representatives are available for your questions and concerns.

The Compliance department (Cologne) will be available to assist compliance@rtlgroup.com or Tel. +49 221 456 56620

This system is available in multiple languages and accessible by phone or internet. It allows for a confidential dialogue with the RTL Group Compliance Department, secured by special encryption and anonymous if desired.

You can access the system here: rtl.com/speakup

The Ombudsperson is a neutral, independent person whom employees can trust and turn to when they need to confidentially seek advice or guidance on how to surface and resolve a concern regarding compliance violations at the company.

Only upon the explicit request by the employee can the Ombudsperson pass on the employee’s concern directly to the Compliance team. The employee can, for example, ask the Ombudsperson to pass on the content of his conversation with the Ombudsperson without disclosing the employee’s identity.

How can I contact the Ombudsperson?

There are two Ombudspersons, one located in Germany and another located in the United States. All Ombudspersons speak English as well as German for the Ombudsperson located in Germany, and English and Spanish for the Ombudsperson located in the United States.
