In RTL stories – The podcast, Fremantle UK CEO Amelia Brown reflects on her journey from production runner to CEO and shares insights into the television industry.
“I knew the very first moment I was at Fremantle, it was all about Pop Idol. That was the show I wanted to work on no matter what”, says Amelia as she recounts her early days at Fremantle. She joined RTL Group’s content powerhouse in 2003, moving up the ranks on various programmes and in various roles.
She was appointed Managing Director of UK label Thames in 2017 and has been a key creative on almost every series of Britain’s Got Talent and The X Factor. She became CEO of Fremantle UK in April 2023.
“My real goal is to carry on creating or helping run a company that made me feel like I could do anything in my career”, responds Amelia when asked about her future plans for Fremantle UK. “Show your initiative, be enthusiastic and positive, but choose a company or a genre that you will be passionate about”, she advises the next generation of TV professionals.
In the podcast hosted by Lisa Burke, Amelia also discusses what makes good talent, how to balance professional and personal life, and how to keep formats fresh.
