The 19th edition of the spinning challenge was once again a remarkable event, showing solidarity and commitment to supporting cancer research. The event brought together around 300 colleagues and public figures, such as Luxembourgish politicians, artists and athletes, who together cycled a total of 4,534 kilometres on 23 spinning bikes.
Seven coaches and DJ Marc kept participants energised and motivated with their dynamism and enthusiasm throughout the seven-and-a-half-hour session. Claude Dublin, Digital Media Operations Manager at BCE, hosted the challenge during the afternoon, fostering a great atmosphere and inspiring participants along the way.
Each kilometre cycled contributed to the final donation from RTL Group to Télévie, resulting in a final sum of €60,000 handed over by Elmar Heggen to Zoé Summer, a journalist student who survived cancer.
Among the participants were Deputy CEO and COO Elmar Heggen and CFO Björn Bauer from RTL Group, Christophe Goossens, CEO of RTL Luxembourg and CEO of BCE, alongside the Luxembourgish politicians Max Hahn and Georges Engel, and the winner of the Luxembourg Song Contest, Laura Thorn.
Elmar Heggen, Deputy CEO and COO of RTL Group, says: “RTL Group is proud to support Télévie for the 19th consecutive year, a tradition that unites our Luxembourgish teams in a shared motivation to support the fight against cancer. Each year, colleagues from across our companies including RTL Group, BCE, RTL Luxembourg, IP, Media Assurances, and Enex join forces to make a meaningful impact.”
This year, for the first time, the three best teams received special prizes for their total kilometres completed. Congratulations to Claude Dublin’s team from BCE on bike 19, who finished in 3rd place with a total of 234 kilometres. In 2nd place, Thomas Moro’s team from BCE on bike 15 with 241 kilometres, and taking 1st place, Annick Thielen’s team from IP Luxembourg on bike 14 with an impressive 256 kilometres!
The event concluded with the traditional pasta party, where participants came together to share a great moment and enjoy a delicious pasta meal donated by Sodexo.
Diane Wunsch, Télévie coordinator in Luxembourg, says: “I would like to thank everyone for participating in the RTL Télévie Challenge. Thanks to your dedication and support, the event was a a huge success in every way. Together, we are strong, and together, we can continue to advance cancer research here in Luxembourg. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!
