RTL Deutschland's 2024 Sustainability Week
Impressive, thought-provoking and informative: RTL Deutschland's 2024 Sustainability Week will focus on biodiversity and the underwater world.

A cross-media marketing campaign will promote the Sustainability Week, which will take place across RTL Deutschland’s channels from 16 to 20 September 2024. ‘Für mehr Leben’ (For more life) replaces ‘Packen wir’s an!’ (Let’s do it!), which was used to promote the themed weeks in 2023 and 2022, as the campaign’s slogan. This year, the focus is on the importance of protecting the biodiversity of the ocean, alongside the beauty and fascination of the underwater world.

Thorsten Braun, Chief Marketing Officer at RTL Deutschland, says: “Our cross-media campaign for the ‘For more life’ theme week aims to raise awareness of the importance, fascinating beauty and fragility of the ocean. Through a combination of exciting, carefully researched content and impressive visuals, we want to encourage viewers, readers and users to take a closer look and think. All of this supports and corresponds to our RTL Deutschland corporate values and is therefore very important to us.”

Journalists Dirk Steffens, Clara Pfeffer and Maik Meuser will each present marine life that is particularly fascinating to them and close to their hearts. Dirk has chosen the majestic blue whale and the unique octopus; Clara has selected coral, the architect of the ocean; and Maik will talk about the grey seal, Germany’s largest predator. As part of the Sustainability Week, the documentary Die große Geo-Story – Warum jede Art zählt (The big Geo story – Why every species counts), also presented by Dirk Steffens, will be broadcast on 19 September on flagship channel RTL.

For the younger target group, children’s programme Toggo is celebrating a special birthday: SpongeBob SquarePants turns 25. Together with Dirk Steffens, SpongeBob will bring children closer to the importance, beauty and fascination of the ocean.

In addition to the various trailers for the three testimonials from Dirk, Clara and Maik, which will be shown on RTL Deutschland’s digital and TV channels, the marketing campaign can also be seen via online advertising media, social media and radio.
