On 8 May 2024, Geo Television will celebrate 10 years of providing German audiences with the world’s best documentaries. The pay TV channel is offering 20 hours of special programming, taking viewers on a journey through the channel’s history and featuring high-quality, Oscar-winning documentaries from the fields of nature, science and history.

The German premiere of documentary series Aufstieg der Wikinger (Rise of the Vikings) will be broadcast at 20:15. During four episodes, viewers will be taken back to the 9th century to learn about the first great Viking leaders, with commentary from historians and archaeologists. Other highlights include the Oscar-winning documentaries O.J. - Made in America and Citizenfour, alongside nature documentaries such as Malika – Die Königin der Löwen (Malika - The Queen of the Lions) and Der einsamste Wal der Welt (The Loneliest Whale in the World).
