Stephan Schmitter

Stephan Schmitter, born in 1974, has been CEO of RTL Deutschland since January 2024.

As CEO of RTL Deutschland, Stephan Schmitter is responsible for all programme, cross-channel and cross-platform content, including the entire journalistic offer, the streaming service RTL+ and the reorganised publishing business Gruner + Jahr (G+J). He is also Chairman of the Board of the Bertelsmann Content Alliance, Chairman of the Board of the "Stiftung RTL - Wir helfen Kindern e.V." foundation and a member of Bertelsmann's Group Management Committee (GMC).

Stephan Schmitter began his journalistic career in 1996 at Radio Gong 96.3 in Munich. From 2007 to 2020, he was Managing Director of RTL Radio Center Berlin GmbH and from 2018 to the beginning of 2023, he was CEO of RTL Radio Deutschland.
